Vikings are really interested in a different elite quarterback prospect.

In preparation for the impending NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings are researching quarterback prospects.

In the first round of the draft, the Vikings are able to select twice. They acquired the No. 23 overall pick in a recent trade with the Houston Texans, in addition to their own pick at No. 11. Most predict that they will package both of those picks to move up higher in the first round, or they will draft a quarterback with one of those two picks.

Michael Penix Jr. is one quarterback in particular that the Vikings are obviously interested in. Minnesota brought its whole staff, including general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell, to Seattle on Thursday for a private workout with Penix, according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.

Most analysts rank Penix as the fourth or fifth best quarterback available in the draft. It is anticipated that Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and JJ McCarthy will be the first four quarterbacks selected; Williams, the Chicago Bears, will be selected first, with the other three going in a certain order. Even the top four picks may include one of the four quarterbacks.

The No. 4 pick is presently held by the Arizona Cardinals, who are led by Kyle Murray. It is possible that they will trade that to the Vikings or to some other team.

Penix is a player whose value can increase in the last weeks before the draft. Over the previous two seasons, the former Washington standout completed his passing career with 9,544 yards, 67 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions. On his most recent pro day, he showed scouts more than just his passing talent.

In the event that the Vikings choose not to move up in the draft, Penix would be a very wise addition.
