Alexander Mattison has a new NFL team

Alexander Mattison, a former starter for the Minnesota Vikings, has signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, the organization announced on Monday. The agreement’s terms were kept a secret.

Mattison, who spent four seasons as Dalvin Cook’s backup running back, finally got his chance to start for the Vikings last season. Despite rushing for a career-high 180 carries, Mattison’s efficiency as a No. 2 back was compromised as he only managed 700 yards and zero touchdowns in 16 games (3.9 yards per carry). In addition, he recorded three touchdowns and 192 yards on 30 catches.

In his five seasons in the league, Mattison has rushed for 2,370 yards at an average of 4.1 yards per carry, with 15 touchdowns combined. Over the previous three seasons, he has gained 1,474 yards through rushing at an average of 3.8 yards per carry.

Mattison is anticipated to go off against Zamir White for carries in Vegas. Experience does give Mattison the advantage.

Less than twenty-four hours after Mattison was cut by the Green Bay Packers, who had already signed Josh Jacobs, the Vikings added Aaron Jones in his stead. For the Raiders over the previous five seasons, Jacobs was their top running back.
